How Basic voiceover and tab audio capture work

Understand Screenfly Basic voiceover, Chrome speech synthesis, and tab audio capture requirements.

What Basic voiceover is

Basic voiceover uses browser speech synthesis and records the narration audio from the Screenfly tab.

This path is useful for simple narration, but it depends on browser support and tab-audio capture.

Before you start

Add subtitle text first. Basic voiceover needs subtitles because the subtitles act as the narration script.

If there are no subtitles, Screenfly will ask you to add subtitle text before adding voice.

Capture tab audio

When prompted, choose the Screenfly tab in the browser picker and enable Share tab audio.

Screenfly may mute the video preview while it records narration audio only. Keep the tab open until the capture finishes.

Common issues

Basic voiceover may be unavailable if:

  • speech synthesis is not supported in the browser
  • tab audio capture is not supported
  • the wrong tab was selected
  • Share tab audio was not enabled

If Basic voiceover fails, check browser support and retry the capture.
