Screenfly

Original vs baked videos in Screenfly

Understand the difference between source recordings, imported originals, and finished baked outputs.

Two kinds of assets

Screenfly separates source assets from finished outputs.

An Original video is a source file. It may be a Screenfly recording or an imported local video.

A Baked video is a finished output created by Studio after applying your edits and export settings.

Why this distinction matters

Original files remain available for future edits. Baked files are the outputs you download, share, or publish.

This makes iteration safer. If you need a shorter cut, different subtitles, or a new GIF version, reopen the original or project settings and bake again.

What baking applies

Baked videos can include:

  • skip zones
  • crop
  • subtitles
  • voiceover
  • background music
  • device frame
  • export format
  • export quality

The original source stays unchanged.

How Library shows them

Library labels assets as Original or Baked. Use filters when you want to find source material or finished exports quickly.
