How Project files work in Studio

Understand Project files, active source files, and how recordings connect to Studio timelines.

Project files are the sources inside a project

Project files are the videos attached to the current Studio project. They can be recordings, imports, or baked outputs.

The Project files section supports three core actions:

  • Record to capture a new clip for the current project
  • Add from library to attach an existing Library file
  • Select a file to load it into the editor

Active file

Only one Project file is active at a time. The active file controls what appears in the preview, timeline, subtitles, crop, voice, device frame, and export settings.

When you click another Project file, Studio switches the editor to that file.

Renaming files

Renaming a Project file updates the shared Library asset name too. Use names that describe the demo or variant, not generic names like recording-1.

Removing files

Removing a Project file only detaches it from the project. It does not delete the Library asset.

If you remove the active file and no other file is selected, the editor returns to an empty state until you choose or add another file.
