How to import subtitle text, SRT, or VTT files
Import subtitle files into Screenfly and turn lines or timestamped cues into editable subtitle rows.
Supported subtitle imports
Screenfly can import subtitle text files from the Subtitles rail. The parser supports:
- plain text lines
- timestamp-prefixed lines
- SRT-style timing blocks
- VTT-style timing blocks
Imported subtitles become editable rows in Studio.
Import plain text
Plain text import creates one subtitle per non-empty line. Screenfly places the first line near the current playhead and spaces the following lines with a default subtitle duration.
Plain text is useful when you have a script but do not need precise timing yet.
Import timestamped subtitles
Timestamped SRT or VTT content gives Screenfly start times for each cue. Use this when you already have a subtitle file from another tool or a transcript workflow.
After import, review the timing in Studio and adjust any rows that feel early or late.
Raw files are not stored
Subtitle text files are parsed client-side. The raw uploaded .txt, .srt, or .vtt file is not stored as a separate media asset.
